Emmy Lou’s Ice Cream Cafe on E. Main Street in Pen Argyl has been sold, owner Emily Beam wrote in a Thursday Facebook post.
“It’s a bittersweet occasion, but I’m ready to move on to the next chapter of my life,” Beam wrote.
However, unlike several other small business sales and closures, Beam insists the decision wasn’t directly pandemic related.
“So many people have asked, so I want to be clear that selling the shop is not a direct result of the pandemic,” Beam said.
“The past year or so has definitely shined light on the fact that being a business owner is not always easy. But my passion for this career has been lessening over the years, and the current events have given me the opportunity to finally move on.”
The new owners will open the shop in April, Beam said, adding that they will still be selling the ice cream Emmy Lou’s customers have become so fond of.
“Pen Argyl deserves a spot where someone is able to give it their all and put their whole heart in it,” Beam said. “Keep your eyes out, the new owners will be opening up the beginning of April.”
